Heading to an interview can be a nerve-racking experience. While you may be well-prepared and experienced, you could still harm your chances by making a mistake.

Thankfully, it’s easy to avoid job interview errors. Let’s take a look at some of the most common pitfalls.

If you fail to ask questions at the end of the interview it’s unlikely that you’ll get a call back. Asking questions demonstrates interest in the company and hunger for the position, so always come prepared.

Not researching the company you are applying to beforehand is a major mistake. It’s likely that you will be asked why you applied to the organization, and it is important that you are able to show some understanding of the company and its history. Failure to do so could make you look lazy and apathetic.

Speaking negatively about your past job and/or your former boss and colleagues is a bad idea. It can make you seem petty and difficult to work with. Remember, try to frame everything in a positive light.

And remember, dress well, act confidently and turn off your cell phone!
